Our Story

Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, women have passed down their knowledge of spinning wool and knitting warm garments by hand for generations. In the cold winters, knitting has been an indispensable way of keeping warm in the mountainous landscape of Northern India.

In an effort to preserve these traditions while supporting the women who inherit them, Pure Hands was born. Inspired by the raw beauty and rich culture of the Himalayas, Pure Hands has been developing over the past years along with ANKURI, a nonprofit that trains women in spinning and knitting. Pure Hands began as a way to teach women entrepreneurship and to provide financial independence in order to support them and their families. Efforts are currently underway to start a spinning operation through which we hope to market organic wool. We are also developing a line of organic products grown at our own farm such as grains, mushrooms, hemp, and essential oils.

Each garment is carefully handcrafted to a specified quality. Each purchase directly supports the women of Pure Hands and their communities.
